Who are we?

The Aqua Cogs are a group of five students from Newton Moore Senior High School. Newton Moore Senior High School is situated in Bunbury in the South West of W.A. Our group consists of two year tens; Cameron and Taine, from the team “Sub Skrters” and three year nines; Abby, Chloe and Shaofeng, original Aqua Cogs members.

Why we joined forces?

After competing against the Sub Skrters and multiple other teams at State Finals on the 24th and 25th of October, it was announced that the Sub Skrters team would be going to National Finals. Unfortunately, three former members from Sub Skrters were unable to participate in Sydney at Nationals. With that being the case there was three opening spots, Abby, Chloe and Shaofeng put applications in and were chosen. With the majority of the new team being Aqua Cogs members, we went with majority rules and stuck to the name Aqua Cogs.

Behind the name & logo

Our logo consists of five purple cogs in a position that resembles a submarine. Each cog represents one team member and as a whole how we work together. In any machinery, the cogs link together to keep everything working. As a team we ‘link’ together and help each other.

We decided to go with a name that reflects exactly what our logo entails. The word “Aqua” refers to water and aquatic activities. Subs in Schools is largely based around water in the Sea Trials. Instead of our name just being “Aqua” we decided to combine “Aqua” and “Cogs” because it enticing.
